Open house to celebrate new Ludington fire station.

LUDINGTON — An open house celebrating the new Ludington Fire Department station will be held Sunday, May 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the fire station, located at 918 E. Tinkham Ave., behind Lakeshore Resource Network.

The new station has been in operation for about a month. It replaces the previous station, located at the northeast corner of Loomis and Robert streets, which opened in 1977.

The $1.2 million station features four stalls for trucks, including one drive-through stall. It also features a spacious training room and kitchen, male and female locker rooms, utility room for cleaning gear and hoses, and office space. The station also features the bell from the original Ludington Fire Department station, located at the intersection of Rath and Loomis streets.
