WSCC considering student housing.
VICTORY TOWNSHIP — West Shore Community College students may have the option to live on campus at some point in the future. On Monday, Nov. 19, the college’s board of trustees is expected to hire a firm to conduct a student housing feasibility study.
“On-campus student housing can provide benefits such as: supporting student success, increasing retention, increasing our enrollment of local and regional students, providing increased opportunities for enrollment of international students, and support of a greater sense of community and institutional identity,” President Scott Ward wrote in a memo to the board. “This list of potential benefits reflects the college’s strategic goals. For these reasons the college wishes to proceed in the procurement of a student housing feasibility study.”
The board is expected to hire Scion Group at a cost of $59,500.
The board will meet at 5 p.m. at Mason County Eastern Schools in Custer.
