Custer Township appoints new supervisor.

CUSTER TOWNSHIP — Custer Township Board of Trustees has appointed Mark Anderson as its new supervisor. Anderson replaces Ron Bacon who recently resigned because he is running unopposed for Mason County Commission. Anderson will serve through the remainder of the current term, which expires in November 2020. At that time, the position will be up for election.
Anderson retired as vice president of operations for a warehousing company in Grand Rapids two years ago and moved to Custer Township with his wife, Jo.
“I talked with several people on the board and also with past supervisors. We live in this community now and we want to be a part of it and get involved,” Anderson said.
“We love this area and love living along the Pere Marquette River). I really have no particular agenda. I just want to get involved in the community.”
The decision was made during a special meeting of the Custer Township board Monday morning, Oct. 1, 2018.
