Ludington woman facing multiple charges after hit-and-run crashes.

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — Jessica Curtin, 28, Ludington was arrested Saturday, June 30, by Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies  and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding, and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. She was arrested after deputies were investigating two separate hit and run crashes that had taken place within a 50 minute time span.

The first crash occurred at 4:18 p.m. in the 3900 block of West US 10 in Amber Township. The suspect vehicle struck a handicap sign then another vehicle before leaving the scene, according to Sheriff Kim Cole.

The second crash occurred at 5:09 p.m. in the 4800 block of West US 10 in Pere Marquette Township when a vehicle reportedly sideswiped another vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot and then left the scene.

During those crashes, a vehicle registration and name of a possible suspect driver were identified.

Cole said deputies were then policing a crash on US 31 expressway south of US 10 when the suspect vehicle drove through the crash scene and nearly struck a deputy. The vehicle information was put out on the radio and a second deputy went to the area where it was believed the suspect lived.  While in the area, the second deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, driving through a yard, back onto Brye Road and down a driveway, striking a house. There were no injuries reported in the crash.

Curtin was arraigned in 79th District Court with a $25,000 cash/surety bond.
