LUDINGTON — Andy Thomas and Chad Rushing were sitting around one day and came up with an idea. The two Ludington musicians decided they would duke out their guitar picking skills and raise some money at the same time.
On Wednesday, Dec. 5 the two will perform at The Mitten Bar downtown Ludington beginning at 7:30 p.m. Throughout the evening tips given to the two performers will go to a charity of their choice.
Thomas’ charity is the Ludington Area Center for the Arts while Rushing’s charity is Ludington Area Schools band program.
“We will be alternating 15 minute sets,” Rushing says. “We’ll also play some songs together. Mostly, we’re going to just have some fun with it. The whole idea is that we want to try to give back to the community.”
Rushing and Thomas each play acoustic guitar.
“Our music is a mixture of rock, pop, alternative,” Rushing says.
“This just kind of sounds like fun,” Thomas says. “It was the brainchild of the two of us. We were going to do it during Friday Night Live in the summer, but that just never happened. It just seems like a different way of fund raising. There are no expectations, it’s just fun. If we make some money for our charities, then that’s great.”
Rushing says this is also a good way to get people downtown.
“Both Andy and I work downtown and we like to see more people there,” he says. Rushing works at Redolencia Coffee Shop and Thomas, along with his wife Michelle, owns AM Galleries.
