LUDINGTON — The following were sentenced recently in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
– Jordan James, 20, of 5963 W. 6th St., Pere Marquette Township, was found guilty March 26 of second-offense domestic violence and was sentenced to 34 days in jail with credit for 30 days served; one year discretionary jail for one year; may be released to Community Mental Health or a placement facility when one becomes available; no alcohol, drugs or caffeine; subject to random preliminary breath tests (PBTs) and drug tests; and must not be involved with “sexting.”
– Melvin David Case, 47, of 165 N. Stiles Rd., Amber Township, was found guilty March 20 of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; must report to jail July 20 unless he’s completed Impact Weekend; outpatient treatment; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must obtain Soberlink for six months; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $1,225 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS).
– Dominic Bruce Howe, 47, of 406 S. Main St., Scottville, was found guilty March 20 of disorderly person – drunk and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; outpatient treatment; 90 days discretionary jail for 18 months; and $285 in fines and costs. Two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing police were dismissed.
– Andrew Lee Lebrun, 36, of 803 E. Loomis St., Ludington, was found guilty March 22 of disorderly person – disturbing the peace and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; and $285 in fines and costs.
– Joshua Paul Barnaby, 42, of 3073 S. Pere Marquette Hwy., Pere Marquette Township, was found guilty March 22 of failure to display a valid license and was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.
– Peter Nicholas Bailey, 38, of 1560 Bagley St., Detroit, was found guilty March 20 of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; outpatient counseling; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend AA twice a week for one year; must attend the next session of the Victim Impact Panel (VIP); no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $1,275 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating with a high blood alcohol content (BAC) was dismissed.
– Dustin Allen Collene, 37, of 6647 W. Ann St,. Pere Marquette Township, was found guilty March 20 of second-offense operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for 30 days served; must report to jail July 20 unless he’s completed Impact Weekend; one year discretionary jail for two years; vehicle immobilization; must maintain employment; must attend AA two times per week for one year; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; and $1,536.37 in fines, costs and restitution. Conviction reportable to SOS. Charges of failure to report an accident and violating a restricted license were dismissed.
– Jason Timothy Varnes, 36, of 1719 Maggie St., Fountain, was found guilty March 20 of third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year and $835.56 in fines, costs and restitution.
– Thys Leroy Talsma, 51, of 308 Fourth St., Ludington, was found guilty March 20 disorderly person – disturbing the peace and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; no alcohol/drugs; subject to random PBTs; and $285 in fines and costs. He may purchase/possess alcohol for employment purposes only. One count of assault and battery was dismissed.
