Ludington woman faces jail for using counterfeit money.

LUDINGTON — A 32-year-old Ludington woman, who pleaded guilty in 51st Circuit Court Tuesday, Nov. 14, to uttering and publishing a counterfeit bill, faces serving 90 days up front of a one-year discretionary jail term.
Melissa Marie Collins, 32, of 1007 N. James St., was initially charged with two felony counts of counterfeiting, which were dismissed when she pleaded to the added lesser count.
“I spent a fake $100 bill,” Collins testified. The crime occurred at the Northside Market in Pere Marquette Township last July.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 23 at 2:45 p.m.
