LUDINGTON — The following were recently sentenced in Mason County’s 79th District Court:
-Cody Wellington Bullis, 28, of 526 Davis St., Manistee, pleaded guilty October 23 to second-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and was sentenced to 58 days in jail with credit for 28 days served; one year discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact panel; must attend AA/NA two times per week for two years; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must continue current outpatient counseling program; and $1,685 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State (SOS). A charge of driving while license suspended (DWLS) was dismissed.
-Eric James Asiala, 50, of 206 N. Reinberg Ave., Scottville, pleaded guilty October 24 to OWI and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact panel; must attend AA two times per week for two years; must obtain a Smart Start portable breathalyzer for one year; no drugs/alcohol for two years; subject to random PBTs; must continue current outpatient counseling program; and $1,430 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of operating with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more was dismissed.
-Melanie Sue Babcock, 36, of 9127 S. M-37, Baldwin, pleaded no contest October 24 to operating a vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs and drug tests; must cooperate with DHHS; must obtain substance abuse counseling; and $960 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilty but is treated as one during sentencing.
-Timothy Joseph Forbes, 56, of 706 Sixth St., Ludington, pleaded guilty October 24 to operating a vehicle while impaired by liquor (OUIL) and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; must attend victim’s impact panel; no drugs/alcohol; subject to random PBTs; must obtain outpatient counseling; and $935 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle was dismissed.
-Kevin Lloyd Schulz, 45, of 404 N. Emily St., Ludington, pleaded guilty October 24 to OWI and was sentenced to 32 days in jail with credit for two days served; 93 days discretionary jail for two years; must attend victim’s impact weekend; must attend AA two times per week for two years; no drugs/alcohol; must obtain Soberlink for one year; subject to random PBTs; must obtain substance abuse counseling; and $1,455 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
-Cody Morgan Denton, 22, of 2630 N. Sherman Rd., Hamlin Township, pleaded guilty October 18 to operating a vehicle while impaired by a controlled substance and DWLS and was sentenced to 93 days in jail with credit for 93 days served. Fines/costs are suspended due to actual jail time served. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of possession of cocaine was dismissed.
-Sean Allen Schmitz, 25, of 202 S. Rowe St., Apt. 2, Ludington, pleaded guilty October 24 to larceny less than $200 and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year, $85 in restitution; and $535 in fines/costs.
-Daniel Jay Cox, 47, of 6354 S. Ordway Rd., Eden Township, pleaded guilty October 26 to trespassing and was sentenced to 30 days discretionary jail for one year; not to enter property belonging to victim; 12 months of probation; and $265 in fines/costs.
-Gary Michael Boyer, 25, of 3455 S. Merriville Rd., Baldwin, pleaded guilty October 30 to allowing a person to drive in violation of the motor vehicle code and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail for one year; 12 months of probation; and $335 in fines/costs.
-David Lane Anderson, 49, of 2943 Keystone Rd., Traverse City, pleaded guilty October 26 to DWLS and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail for one year; 12 months of probation; and $285 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
-Roger Lee Stever, 38, of 3209 E. Hawley Rd., Eden Township, pleaded guilty October 26 to recreational trespassing and was sentenced to pay $235 in fines/costs.
-Gavid David Newman, 17, of 3657 W. Woodview Rd., Amber Township, pleaded guilty October 24 to operating a vehicle without a license and was sentenced to pay $275 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS. A charge of transporting an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle was dismissed.
-Stephanie Marie Christmann, 45, of 60 N. State St., Shelby, pleaded guilty October 30 to DWLS and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day served; 93 days discretionary jail for one year; 12 months of probation; and $285 in fines/costs. Conviction is reportable to SOS.
