LUDINGTON — The Ludington City Council is expected to make a final decision tonight on the design of a splash pad that is planned for Copeyon Park during its regular meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 400 S. Harrison St. The council initially approved the park as the site of the pad in 2016. Since that time, a committee has been raising private funds for it; money for building the pad will not come from tax dollars, but the city will be responsible for the cost of water.

The first design, as presented by committee member Stephanie Reed, will be a 35-foot circular pad with just ground sprays and no features. The other option would be 70-feet by 40-feet with an oval design and several features. The circular pad would cost about $100,000, which the group has already raised. The second design would be an additional $100,000, and would include sidewalks, fencing, and benches. The committee has recently met with the city’s cemetery, parks, and recreation committee, which is recommending the oval design.
