HAMLIN TOWNSHIP — An intruder attempted to break into the Big Sable Point Lighthouse at the Ludington State Park Saturday afternoon, April 15, and in a separate incident, a tree fell on a 74-year-old man’s car Saturday, according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The attempted break-in was reported at 2:59 p.m. “A subject broke open a screen door and threw a rock through a door window,” Cole said. No entry was gained into the lighthouse.

At 5:34 p.m., a pine tree fell onto a 74-year-old Ludington man’s Lincoln on Bryant Road east of Sherman Road in Pere Marquette Township, the sheriff said. “The pine tree had snapped off, bringing down a power line and breaking a power pole. In the process, the tree struck a 2015 Lincoln being driven by a 74 year-old Ludington man which happened to be passing by as the tree fell.” No injuries were reported.

– 10:52 a.,m., (Mason County Sheriff’s Office), warrant arrest, Lawndale and Nelson streets, City of Ludington. A 25-year-old Scottville man was arrested on an outstanding Hart MSP warrant for failure to appear following a traffic stop.

– 5:38 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, Gordon Road south of US 10, Amber Township.

– 7 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injuries, 5000 block of West US 10, Pere Marquette Township

– 8:45 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, Free Soil Road east of US 31, Free Soil Township.

– 9 p.m., (MSP), a 22-year-old Walkerville man was arrested for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, Chauvez and Brye roads, Pere Marquette Township.

– 9:15 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injuries, US 31 south of Koenig Road, Free Soil Township.

Saturday, April 15, 2017:

– 6:32 a.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 Freeway north of the Pere Marquette Highway exit, Pere Marquette Township. A 46-year-old Ludington man was arrested as a result of the crash on a charge of third-offense OWI.

– 10:25 a.m., (MSP), car/turkey crash, US 31 and Conrad Road, Amber Township.

– 11:44 a.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10 west of Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township.

– 1:25 p.m., (MSP), trespassing complaint, under investigation, Decker and Taylor roads, Sherman Township.

– 3:25 p.m., (MSP), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 31 and Fountain Road, Sherman Township.

– 8:15 p.m., (MSP), an 18-year-old Manistee man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, Angling and Beaude roads, Hamlin Township.

Sunday, April 16, 2017:

– 12:30 p.m., (MSP), car/turkey crash, US 31 and Conrad Road, Amber Township.

– 4:09 p.m., (MSP), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10 and Brye Road, Amber Township.

– 6:31 p.m., (MCSO), one-vehicle hit-and-run crash causing a minor injury, Main and Pine streets, Village of Fountain. A warrant is being requested for a 47-year-old Fountain man after he fled the scene of a one car crash on foot.

– 6:40 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle crash, no injuries, US 10 and Stiles Road, Amber Township.
