Memorial assures patients no meningitis outbreak here

October 25, 2012

LUDINGTON — Memorial Medical Center issued a press release stating that there is no meningitis concern related to the hospital or the pain clinic at the hospital, operated as part of the practice of Michael Greenslait, DO.

Neither the hospital nor the pain clinic use the steroid medication implicated in the outbreak (Methylprednisolone Acetate), or any other products from NECC, the company that manufactured it. All of the company’s products have been recalled.

Immediately after the outbreak was announced, Dr. Greenslait provided a notice to his patients noting that he does not use Methylprednisolone Acetate. At the same time the Memorial Medical Center pharmacy verified that it also did not have the drug in question.

After the general recall of NECC products, the pharmacy checked the entire list and verified that the hospital does not have any of their products.
