Local author debuts with Easter-themed children’s book.
By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief.
LUDINGTON — Penny Quillan, along with her mother, Marian Riffle, has been writing faith based puppet shows at their church, United Methodist Church of Ludington, for the past 10 years. Penny has now turned her writing skills into a book and has published a children’s book titled “Rabbit Knight and the Wolf, an Easter Tale.”
The short illustrated book tells the tale of first impressions, friendship, and God’s love through the rhyming exchange of two rabbits and a wolf. I won’t give out too much of the story, you can read the book to find out more. While the book is dubbed an Easter tale, it is certainly a message that is valid any time of year.
“I have learned that it is not always about what you give to God, it is what you are willing,” she says about her inspiration to write the book. “The book was inspired by a puppet show we performed.”
She credits her husband, Scott, along with her children Darren and Whitney, for supporting her and helping her with the book. She also said she received much help and feedback from her peers in the Ludington Writers’ Group.
“Rabbit Knight and the Wolf” is published by Christian Faith Publishing and is available in paperback and digital formats. It can be ordered on Amazon here or Barnes & Nobel here.
She said she is hoping that it soon be available for sale locally as well. Penny is also taking orders for the book and can be reached at Wayne Brown Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Ludington at 231-843-4037.
Penny’s second book, “Changing up Christmas” will be available in a few months, she says.
