Nashville, Michigan takes away world record from Ludington.

LUDINGTON — Another ice cream shop in another Michigan town has broken the Guinness World Record for longest ice cream dessert, which had been set in June by House of Flavors Restaurant in Ludington. Nashville Business Distirct was officially named the world record holder in December, just a month after House of Flavors was officially given the record. Moo-ville Creamery was the business that launched the record attempt.

House of Flavors owner Barry Neal has remained positive about the defeat.

“What a great accomplishment that two Michigan dairies are both world record breakers in 2016, rightfully bringing the longest ice cream dessert world record to the greatest ice cream state in the world, Michigan,” Neal said. “House of Flavors and Ludington will always be world record breakers.  We look forward to working with our friends, family and community to break more world records in the future.”

Nashville is located on M-66 north of Battle Creek.

The June world record attempt in Ludington measured 2,970 ft 8.95 in., over a half mile or 8 blocks. It used 12,700-plus scoops of ice cream, 855 gallons, and included thousands of volunteers and participants.

Nashville’s dessert was 3,656 feet long, using 852 gallons of ice cream during its attempt on Sept. 17, 2016.

The prior record was 1,957.021 feet set by a town in New Zealand.
