Betty Walden, 84, of Scottville, passed away peacefully; October 17, 2016, happy in the knowledge that she will be with her God and her loved ones, whom she has missed so much.

Betty was born on February 11, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Hershal and Gladys Anders. She was raised and educated in Flint. She married Bill Walden and worked for Flushing Community Schools for over 17 years. After retirement, they made their home in Scottville.

She was an avid school volunteer and supported her children’s and grandchildren’s many endeavors. She enjoyed teaching catechism at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint. Betty traveled extensively across the United States and many foreign countries. She enjoyed her home, reading in Grandma’s favorite chair, being crafty, gardening and spending time with her family.

Honoring Betty’s wishes, there has been a private viewing and cremation has taken place. A burial will take place at Scottville’s Brookside Cemetery, at a later date.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children: Randall (Christy) Hutchison and Lisa Weber; grandchildren: Tony (Laura) Hutchison, Jason (Lani) Hutchison and Nickolaus Weber; great-grandchildren: Brittany (Christopher) Whipple, Toni Marie Hutchison, Gage Hutchison, Joseph Hutchison, Jacob Hutchison, and Kyle Hutchison; great-great granddaughter: Khaleesi Whipple; sisters: Emma Jean Andersen and Leonora Ratliff; numerous nieces, nephews; special family: Teddy (Cheri) Hernandez and family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. John’s Health Care and St. John’s House.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Hershal Jr.

In lieu of flowers, Betty asked you to remember her kindly and hug those you love a little tighter. Appreciate all your blessings and all the beautiful treasures Mother Nature has to offer as she certainly did. Betty promises to smile down on us and pray we will all enjoy a long, healthy life.
