Tip leads to sex offender living in tent.

SCOTTVILLE — Working off an anonymous tip through “Offender Watch,” Mason County Sheriff’s deputies located a 26-year-old Mason County man who was allegedly violating the Sex Offender Registry. He was residing in a tent in a local campground and using a Facebook page under another name Friday, June 3, at 10 p.m. in the 200 block of South Columbia Street, said Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The suspect was not registered at the address where he was living, Cole said.

Citizens are encouraged to assist law enforcement by using the State of Michigan website at http://www.communitynotification.com/cap_main.php?office=55242/ to post tips on potential sex offender violations, Cole said.
