LUDINGTON – The following were sentenced recently in 79th District Court:

– Alexander Levi Ellis, 22, 302 E. Melendy St., Ludington, pleaded guilty on May 10 to disorderly person – jostling and was sentenced to nine days in jail with credit for nine days already served, $285 in fines and costs, 12 months of probation, and 30 days of discretionary jail time for one year.

– Julie Marie Jerome, 46, 4972 Wilcox, Montague, pleaded guilty on May 10 to operating while impaired by liquor (OWIL) and was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for one day already served, $870 in fines and costs, 93 days of discretionary jail time for one year, and 12 months of probation. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State.

– Mary Lee Quinn, 43, no address listed, pleaded guilty on May 10 to charges of third degree retail fraud and was sentenced to seven days in jail with credit for seven days already served, $607.90 in fines and costs, 93 days of discretionary jail time for one year, 48 hours of community service, and 12 months of probation.

– Thomas Matthew Courteau, 58, PO Box 71, Scottville, pleaded no contest on May 3 to charges of operating while intoxicated – second offense and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with credit for one day already served, $1,530 in fines and costs, one year discretionary jail time for two years, no alcohol/drugs, subject to random PBTs, random drug tests, and must immobilize or sell motor vehicle prior to July 31. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State.

– Devonta Gene Young, 21, 308 W. Court St., Ludington, pleaded guilty on May 5 to driving without a valid license and was ordered to pay $225 in fines and costs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State.

– Robert Michael Valles, 45, 12905 Timberline Ave., Grand Haven, pleaded guilty on May 4 to improper transportation or possession of medical marijuana and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days already served, $460 in fines and costs and 93 days of discretionary jail time for one year. A charge of delivery/manufacturing a controlled substance was dismissed by the prosecutor with prejudice.

– Jonathan Joseph Vanderhorst, 28, 126 E. Glenguiel St., Parchment, pleaded guilty on May 3 to operating with a high blood alcohol content and attempted resisting of a police officer. He was sentenced to five days in jail with credit for five days already served, $1,740 in fines and costs, 180 days of discretionary jail time for two years on the first count, one year discretionary jail time on the second count, must attend AA for two years, no drugs/alcohol, must install interlock system for two years, and subject to random PBTs. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State. A charge of third degree fleeing a police officer and operating while intoxicated were dismissed by the prosecutor with prejudice.

– Gayle E. Siefker-Keel, 45, 909 S. Madison, Ludington, pleaded no contest on May 3 to domestic violence – second offense and was sentenced to 12 days in jail with credit for 12 days already served, $695 in fines and costs, 1 year discretionary jail time for one year, no drugs/alcohol, no weapons, must submit to random PBTs, random drug testing, and outpatient treatment.

– Mary Ann Faulkner, 48, 3426 North Lake Dr. NE, Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty on May 3 to using a controlled substance (non-narcotic) and was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days already served, $535 in fines and costs, suspended license for 180 days, restricted license for 150 days, one year discretionary jail time for one year, substance abuse evaluation, and no drugs/alcohol. Conviction is reportable to Secretary of State. A charge of driving on a suspended license was dismissed by the prosecutor with prejudice.

– Brittany Michelle Lauber, 241 E. Johnson Rd., Custer Township, pleaded guilty on May 10 to third degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 13 days in jail with credit for 13 days already served, $610.99 in fines and costs, and 93 days of discretionary jail time for one year. A charge of disorderly drunk person was dismissed by the prosecutor with prejudice.

Dismissals

– Trenton Joseph Espinola, 20, no address listed, had charges of breaking and entering a building with intent and breaking and entering of a coin-operated device dismissed without prejudice on May 3. “The defendant has pleaded and been sentenced to prison on other felonies with restitution to be paid on all cases,” court records state.

– Bradford Scott Owens, 40, 1358 Michigan Ave., Baldwin, had charges of larceny – less than $200 dismissed without prejudice on May 3. “People cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt,” court records state.
