SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — Two Ludington men were arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated following a two vehicle on South Pere Marquette Highway north of Meisenheimer Road Monday night about 7 p.m. The crash occurred when a northbound Audi A4, driven by a 26-year-old man, crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Chevrolet pickup, driven by a 53-year-old man, according to sheriff’s deputies on scene. As a result, the truck struck two power poles causing electricity to go out through parts of Summit and Riverton townships.
Neither driver was injured but the 53-year-old man was initially trapped in his vehicle. He was arrested by the Michigan State Police while the driver of the Audi was arrested by Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
Consumers Energy linemen were on scene attempting to restore power. Also on scene were Riverton and Ludington fire departments and Life EMS.
