Heckman becomes retirement plan specialist.

LUDINGTON – Micheal David Heckman, a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial has achieved the professional designation of Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS) through The College of Financial Planning. Heckman successfully completed the requirements that include a course of study encompassing design, installation, maintenance and administration of retirement plans. Additionally, individuals must pass an end-of-course examination that tests their ability to synthesize complex concepts and apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

Heckman said the process required coursework and testing in Grand Rapids.

“The new certification helps me give better advice on different plans by helping business owners and other leaders do what’s right for their employees and business objectives both in profit and non-profit entities. On the individual side, in depth knowledge of the plans that are offered to them helps me direct them to be able to save as efficiently as possible.”
