LUDINGTON — A 41-year-old Ludington man faces one year in jail after pleading guilty Tuesday, Dec. 8, in 51st Circuit Court to two counts of attempted assault by strangulation and two counts of domestic violence stemming from two incidents that occurred within five days.

Adam Bruce Ireland, of 708 Fifth St., was initially facing two counts of assault by strangulation and a second-offense habitual offender notice, which were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Ireland testified that he put his hands around the victim’s neck Oct. 2 and Oct. 7.

In addition to jail, the plea deal also calls for a probation term and no contact with victim, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.

Sentencing is set for Feb. 2 at 1:45 p.m.
