Deputies raise $3,365 for school safety by not shaving.

LUDINGTON — Personnel from Mason County Sheriff’s Office raised $3,365 for The Boot school safety campaign by violating department policy and not shaving since the beginning of October. The deputies requested Sheriff Kim Cole waive the department’s facial hair policy for October and November. The trade off for “violating” the policy is that the offending deputies have to pay a fine of $25 a month for October and November. The fines were then applied to the Adopt A Door school safety campaign. The money raised will purchase 14 doors for county schools.

The device, which is being purchased by The Lockdown Company, is expected to be installed into 596 classrooms and offices in all Mason County secondary and elementary schools.
