LUDINGTON— A 19-year-old Scottville man currently lodged in the Mason County Jail is looking at serving three months of a six-month discretionary jail term after pleading guilty Tuesday, Aug. 4, in 51st Circuit Court to a felony of possession of heroin, less than 25 grams.
Austin James McCumber was arrested June 19 by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in the Wendy’s parking lot on US-10. McCumber testified that he had two grams of heroin in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Part of his sentence will also include a six-month driver’s license suspension with the possibility of a restricted license after 30 days, said Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola.
The maximum penalty for the charge is four years in prison.
Sentencing is set for Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
