MasonCountyPress.com and WMOM FM 102.7 are sponsoring a Candidates’ Forum Monday night, 7 p.m. at the Scottville Clown Band Shell.
The majority of the forum participants will be Republican candidates who are running in the Aug. 7 primary election. These include county treasurer candidates Shirley Smith and Sherry Wyman; county surveyor candidates Noah Penn and John Schulke and the following county commission races: First district, Susan Boes and Joseph Lenius; Second district, Bill Carpenter; Fourth district Lewis Squires and Curt Vanderwall; Fifth district, Mary Nichols and Dale White; Sixth district, Janet Anderson and Rich Morong; Seventh district, Thomas Posma, Aldon Maleckas and Frank Kaminski. Sheriff candidates Jeff Fiers and Kim Cole will also be present.
Also scheduled to appear is Democratic candidate for prosecutor Paul Spaniola.
Non-partisan probate judge candidates Jeff Nellis and Nick Krieger will also attend, though they will only be in the November presidential election, not the August primary.
Audience members will have the opportunity to submit written questions. They should also bring a lawn chair.
Moderator for the event is Mike Tanis, WMOM news director. Serving on the panel will be Rob Alway, editor of MasonCountyPress.com; Lisa Enos, writer/photographer and Jamie Healy, local economist.
Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Scottville Optimist popcorn wagon.
