Salvation Army food pantry nearly depleted

LUDINGTON – The Salvation Army food pantry in Ludington is looking to the local community to respond to a severe shortage of food donations over the summer months.

The pantry has been nearly depleted as many individuals have experienced difficulty in providing food for their families due to continuing economic hardship, according to Capt. Timothy McPherson, corps officer. “In addition to food assistance, many of these families are also receiving utility assistance. As The Salvation Army responds to these needs with increased family services and programs, the pantry shortfall becomes especially acute.”

“The Salvation Army continues to be committed to serving the needs of the local community and we are hopeful that the citizens of Ludington will continue their support of The Salvation Army food pantry,” McPherson said. “With the increased need throughout the year, we are looking to our community to help us meet our goal of restocking our food pantry this fall. I am certain that Ludington will help us fulfill our commitment to this goal, which will allow us to serve those who depend on us to meet basic human needs,” he added.
