BALDWIN — Thousands of motorcyclists filled the Baldwin Municipal Airport last weekend. However, the airport will get a visit from a different group next month. The West Michigan Jet Rally will be held June 13, 14 and 15. The event is sponsored by the Lake County Modelers & Flyers Association and will feature a variety of remote controlled jets.
“Some of these jets go up to 200 mph,” said Mac McClellan, treasurer of the organization.
The event begins Friday, June 13 with set up throughout the day. Open air flying will begin at 5 p.m. Demonstrations and shows will take place Saturday and Sunday throughout the day.
“This event is being conducted by experienced event organizers of several local clubs with the goal of making this a positive and memorable annual event for all jet pilots,” an event brochure stated.
All remote controlled vehicles, including cars, will be at the event.
The Baldwin Municipal Airport is located on M-37 south of the Village of Baldwin. For more information, go to www.lcmfa.com/events.
