LUDINGTON — The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Mason County will hold a kickoff event on Monday, March 3. Volunteers and participants are asked to gather at the Ludington branch of the Mason County District Library at 6:30 p.m. for a rally to launch fundraising efforts for the year.
“Although the Relay For Life of Mason County is more than four months away, now is the time to get involved,” said Sue Lange, who along with her husband, Larry, chairs the event. “One in every 100 Americans participate in this fundraising event that has become a global phenomenon. Residents are invited to attend the kickoff celebration to learn more about the upcoming event and how they can become part of an exciting overnight event that will pave the way to a world with less cancer and more birthdays.”
Relay For Life participants and visitors have a chance to celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap; remember those who are fighting cancer or those who have lost their battle to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony; and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony, which gives everyone a chance to proclaim his or her own way of taking action against the disease.
