AMBER TWP. — A 24-year-old Free Soil man has been charged in connection to a break-in at Grassa’s Farm Market Saturday night. Mason Salisbury is the second person to be arrested in connection to the case. Justin Stever, 23, of Ludington was also arrested. Both have been charged with breaking and entering with intent of the business located at 2442 W. u.S. 10-31.
Sheriff Kim Cole said the incident happened Saturday, Nov. 9, around 7 p.m. The suspects were identified from a security camera. Sheriff Cole said deputies passed around footage of the robbery and were able to identify them based on a previous call. “Deputy Brandon Romero had assisted the Michigan State Police on a suspect vehicle call Saturday night around 7:30 p.m. on Johnson Road east of Stiles Road. While he and the troopers were on that scene, the suspects walked up, identifying the car as theirs.”
At that time, law enforcement did not know that Grassa’s had been robbed, Cole said. “Deputy Romero was able to identify the suspects based on what they were wearing that evening and also the location of their vehicle. This is a perfect example of our citizens helping us catch criminals. We had a citizen see a suspect vehicle and called 911. Sometimes that may turn out to be nothing, but in this case, it resulted in an arrest.”
The suspects have been arraigned.
