Funeral Services for Garrett Ian Lake will be held Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Pere Marquette Township. The family will receive friends at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Ludington, Monday, November 4, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, November 5 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ludington from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The Lake Family Benefit Fund has been established at West Shore Bank to raise money for the Lake family to help with expenses. Heather VanderHaag, a friend of the family, said with the blessing of the family, she is working with West Shore Bank to set up the Lake Family Benefit Fund. VanderHaag is the only person authorized by the family to raise funds for the family.

The account was expected to be active today and donations may be made at any West Shore Bank branch. Donations may also be sent to the Lake Family Benefit Fund, 1045 E. Mavis Road, Scottville, MI 49454. Questions may be directed to hmvanderhaag@gmail.com or through private message on Facebook.

Jordan Lake

Garrett died following a single vehicle crash Friday on U.S. 10 in Branch. His sisters were also in the vehicle. McKenna, 13, was treated at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and released. Jordan, 16, remains at Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, recovering from back injuries.

Jordan had surgery Saturday and her mother, Jennifer, reports that she is improving. “Jordan had a better day today,” Jennifer wrote on the Facebook page “Faith, Hope, and Strength for the Lake Family” Monday evening. “She has been up and slowly walking. She is in a lot of pain still but she is doing it.”

Jennifer expressed her appreciation to everyone who has sent words of encouragement or helped out in other ways.
