GRANT TWP. — A car struck a power pole on North U.S. 31 south of Hoague Road around 11:15 a.m. today. Three people were in the Ford Taurus, including an infant. Initially it was reported the infant was trapped inside the vehicle. However, Grant Twp. Fire Department rescue personnel reported all were out of the vehicle upon arrival.
Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies said one person was being transported to the hospital via Life EMS ambulance. Free Soil/Meade Fire Department was also called to the scene. Emergency personnel on the scene said the crash may have been caused by slippery road conditions caused by a mixture of freezing rain.
