LUDINGTON — The Ludington and Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce has hired Matt Larson as a regional business development consultant. Larson will serve in this newly created business development position becoming the information hub to help foster small businesses and entrepreneurs. This role will serve as another resource and solution for individuals to receive assistance with their business or business idea within our community.
Larson, a Ludington native, has a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in finance, economics, and general business. He holds two master’s degrees in career and technical education and in business administration. His background includes experience in banking, consulting, teaching and small business ownership.
“Matt will be a great addition to our team,” said Kathy MacClean, president/CEO. “Earlier this year the chamber board adopted a strategic plan that included hiring a business development consultant, and with cooperation from West Shore Community College we were able to accomplish that goal. Matt’s primary function will be to provide small business mentoring and networking services to new/young business ventures as well as those looking to start a business. He will be working hand in hand with our SCORE mentors as well as facilitating entrepreneurial and small business trainings at the WSCC Business Opportunity Center. Matt comes to us with a great educational background and real life experience in starting and running his own business.” Matt will be also be facilitating the monthly West Shore Inventor/Entrepreneur Network meetings.
