LUDINGTON — The Mason County Historical Society will be the recipient of the proceeds of this year’s seventh annual Blessing of the Boats, scheduled for Saturday, June 7 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the west end of Ludington Avenue.

Founded in 1937, the Historical Society operates the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum, Historic White Pine Village, Mason County Emporium and Sweet Shop and the Rose Hawley Archives.

The Blessing of the Boats is sponsored by Safe Harbor Credit Union and Bay Brewing Company. The event will include an entertainment tent, raffle, food trucks, vendors, and beverage sales. Music will be provided by Electric Flower, Tom Zatarga, and Defiance County.

“We are thankful that the Blessing of the Boats committee has chosen the Mason County Historical Society as this year’s beneficiary,” said Rebecca Berringer, executive director of the MCHS. “Our organization is deeply rooted in the maritime heritage of Ludington and we are looking forward to being part of this great event.”

The Port of Ludington Maritime Museum is located at 217 S. Lakeshore Dr. in the historic former U.S. Coast Guard Station. Historic White Pine Village is located at 1687 S. Lakeshore Dr. in Pere Marquette Township. Both museums open for the season on Saturday, May 3.

The Rose Hawley Archives and the Mason County Emporium and Sweet Shop are located at 130 E. Ludington Ave. Both are currently closed for spring break but will re-open Monday, April 7 and will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the summer season when it will be open Monday through Saturday.
