Port of Ludington Maritime Museum
By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief
LUDINGTON — The Mason County Historical Society is expanding its services through the creation of a new position of full-time museum engagement manager. The goal of the job is to elevate visitor experiences, developing engaging marketing strategies and enhancing community connections, according to Rebecca Berringer, executive director of Mason County Historical Society (MCHS). Additionally, the position includes managing the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum during its season from April to October.
“This is an exciting time for MCHS,” Berringer said. “We are seeking an individual who brings creativity, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for history to help us expand our reach and deepen our impact.”
Applicants should have a strong background in marketing or museum operations. Though a degree is not required, a background in community relations, marketing, sales and non-profit operations is helpful, Berringer said.
“We are looking for someone with experience with public engagement, volunteer supervision, and digital communications platforms such as social media and DonorPerfect,” Berringer said.
The Mason County Historical Society was formed in 1937. It is a non-profit charitable organization that operates Historic White Pine Village in Pere Marquette Township, Port of Ludington Maritime Museum in Ludington, Rose Hawley Archives and the Mason County Emporium and Sweet Shop, both in downtown Ludington. It is governed by a nine person board of directors.
