Mason County’s Scottville complex on Fifth Street

By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief

SCOTTVILLE — Mason County is moving Building and Grounds, Zoning, Drain Commission and Department of Public Works services to the Mason County Airport terminal, 5300 W. US 10. Currently those departments are housed at the county’s Scottville complex, 102 E. Fifth St.

The move coincides with the relocation of the county administrator’s office from the airport back to the Mason County Courthouse, 304 E. Ludington Ave. (see related story here).

The topic of the move was discussed earlier this week when the Mason County Board of Commissioners’ Building and Grounds Committee met at the Scottville complex. County Administrator Katilyn Szczypka said she plans to be moved back to the courthouse in May and the Scottville office will be closed in June.

During the Building and Grounds Committee meeting, commissioners discussed the future of the Scottville building. Szczypka said she has been in contact with some entities who have expressed interests in the building. The commissioners agreed that a request for suggestions on the building’s future should be solicited from the public. They all agreed that selling the building would be the best option for the county.
