Debbie Gajeski

Debra Anne Gajeski, 72, of Scottville, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Debbie was born on December 30, 1952, the daughter of the late Frank A. McLain and Eleanor M. (DeHaven) McLain. She was a 1971 graduate of Delton High School. On July 18, 1975, she married Joseph Patrick Gajeski. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer.

Debbie was shy, kind and loving! She loved to sew, knit, and crochet. She liked learning about her family’s genealogy. She enjoyed swimming in her pool and standing in the rain. She also loved reading her novels, enjoyed time with her family, and loved taking care of the calves when they had the dairy farm.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Joseph Gajeski; sons, Joseph M. (Judy) Gajeski, and Christopher P. (April) Gajeski; grandson, Alexander “Xander” Gajeski; sisters, Susan (Bill) Gunn, and Fran (Dave) Strothers; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eleanor McLain; sister, Linda Thompson; brother, Frank McLain Jr.; niece, Donna (Eric) Schutte; great-niece, Brianna Schutte; grand-nephew, Brent Schutte; nephew, and Peter Gunn.

A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer, with Rev. Dan DePew presiding. Visitation begins at noon at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Cancer Society.
