Terry Cooley
Terry Lynn (Burelson) Cooley, 67, of Ludington, formerly of Pickney, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025.
Born in Wyandotte, on September 10, 1957, Terry was a cherished member of the community and a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1975. Furthering her education at Washtenaw Community College, Terry achieved her degree as a registered nurse, a testament to her enduring compassion.
For 27 years, Terry served with dedication at the University of Michigan as a registered nurse, retiring in 2021. Her commitment to healing and care was paralleled only by her devotion to her faith and her family. A long-standing member of the SonRise Church in Howell, Terry lifted spirits as a worship team singer for 16 years.
Terry’s life was one of service, both in her profession and her personal pursuits. She was an active participant in the English Springer Spaniel Rescue team, a pastime that reflected her caring nature. Additionally, Terry found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as running, singing, and watching the serene beauty of Lake Michigan’s sunsets and the majesty of the SS Badger coming into and out of port.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 31 years, Bruce Cooley; her sons, Billy (Amanda) Crites, Brady Crites, and Michael Cooley; and her daughter, Tisha (Chris) Essex. Terry’s memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Donnie Burleson, Pamela (James) Hall, Linda (David) Cooper; and her mother-in-law, Patricia Fish, as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her son, Bryan Crites; daughter, Michelle Frederick; her father, James “Tokey” Burleson; mother, Rosemary (Glassell) Stambough; stepfather, Sol Stambough; brother, John Chicka; and father-in-law, Robert Fish.
Terry’s funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at SonRise Assembly of God Church, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to English Springer Rescue America (ESRA) at www.springerrescue.org, in honor of Terry’s heartfelt involvement.
Terry Lynn Cooley’s memory will be preserved in the hearts of those she touched with her loving and caring spirit. May she rest in peace.
