Reno Cooper
Reno Frederick Cooper went to be with his son, Layne Eliot Scott VanVleet, in Heaven on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Reno was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born June 26, 1993, to Frederick and Debra (McIntyre) Cooper, in Ludington.
Reno had a variety of interests and hobbies, ranging from a love of fan fiction, westerns, history, horror films, and heavy metal music. He was a talented artist and loved being creative. He was always making sure his family and friends were happy and laughing with his signature funny faces and often quoted numerous favorite movies from his childhood. He loved traveling to visit historical sites, attending death metal concerts, and had an impressive collection of horror movie memorabilia that his nieces and nephews loved to look at.
No matter his schedule, Reno always set aside time to play video games with his brother, Carson, even as they got older. One of Reno’s favorite family traditions was having bonfires with his family and friends.
The part of life Reno adored the most though was being a father. His son Layne was the light of his life and the spitting image of a young Reno. They shared the same sense of humor and cherished every day they had together. Their favorite times were flying foam gliders outside and driving remote control cars.
Reno brought light and happiness to anyone who knew him. He was an innately kind and gentle person who will be missed by many and will have a legacy carried on in memories of his friends and loved ones.
Reno is survived by: his mother, Debra (McIntyre) Cooper; father, Frederick Cooper; sisters, Therese (Jason Taylor), and Emily Cooper; brother, Carson Cooper (Katherine Reterstorf); many nieces and nephews; and girlfriend, Rosealee Settle.
Reno was preceded in death by: his paternal grandparents, Helen and Laverne Cooper; his maternal grandfather, Donald McIntyre; his uncles, Lane and Duane Cooper; aunt, Mary Nichols; and his son, Layne VanVleet.
