PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Firefighters twice responded to a fire at the Nova Motel, 472 S. Pere Marquette Hwy. Tuesday evening and early this morning. Initially, Pere Marquette Township Fire Department and Ludington Fire Department were dispatched to the motel at 7:30 p.m. The first firefighter on scene reported heavy black smoke coming from one of the buildings. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to an attic in one of the buildings.
Life EMS and law enforcement were also dispatched. Hamlin Fire Department was placed on stand-by but disregarded.
At 1:05 a.m. firefighters were dispatched again to the motel. This time, the fire had intensified causing major damage to one of the buildings.
