Diana Marie Bennett (née Makowicki), 66, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, in her hometown of Ludington. Born in Ludington on October 28, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Patsy Makowicki Csorba. She attended Ludington High School, graduating in 1976, and later earned a nursing degree from West Shore Community College.
Diana spent many years in Florida, specializing in prenatal ultrasounds, before returning to Michigan where she was employed by Spectrum Community Services as a caregiver at the Diamond Trail Home. Her work was a testament to her kind and loving nature, providing comfort and care to those she served.
A devout member of St. Simon Catholic Church, Diana’s faith was a significant aspect of her life. Her personal interests were as vibrant as her personality; she cherished time in the sunshine, enjoyed relaxing at the beach, and catching up with friends around the bonfires. An avid player of euchre, Diana also loved dancing to local bands and attending concerts. Her talents extended to baking, with her hummingbird cake being a family favorite. As a lover of animals, she shared her home with her beloved kitty, Jack. Diana was also an active member of Ludrock, volunteering her skills in face painting and participating in the July 4th parade.
She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Bennett of Belleair, Florida, and Hailey Bennett (fiancée Chayton Sargent) of Ypsilanti; siblings Georgia Makowicki, Mary Hanna, Mike Makowicki, Steve Makowicki, and Ed (Lisa) Makowicki; uncle Marshall Hendrickson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Katie Wheaton Denton.
A celebration of life will be held late summer, in the cherished sunshine. Contributions to help with final expenses can be directed to Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington.
Diana’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
