LUDINGTON — The application period for the 2025 Momentum Business Plan Competition is now open until March 24. The competition will award $15,000 cash to a small business, plus a $10,000 in support services.
Any Mason County for-profit or non-profit venture with a viable business idea, plan or invention, or existing organization or company with less than $250,000 in sales or revenue annually, is eligible to apply.
In April, five business plans will be selected to be pitched live in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. The judges panel will decide which business will take home the grand prize at the May 8 competition. A second prize of $10,000 cash and $5,000 in support services will also be awarded. In addition, a People’s Choice Award will profit one business a $5,000 cash prize. Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a live voting event to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
“The Momentum Business Plan Competition has become a powerful launchpad for local entrepreneurs. It’s inspiring to look back and see how past winners have not only thrived but also enriched Mason County’s economy, creating new jobs and vibrant businesses that contribute to our community’s growth and resilience. said Brandy Miller, president/CEO of the Chamber Alliance of Mason County. “We’re excited to welcome a new group of innovative business ideas and look forward to seeing which ventures will take root and flourish here.”

About Momentum Business Plan Competition
Launched in 2015, the Momentum Business Plan Competition awarded one business entrepreneur a prize of $50,000 to start or move an early-stage business to Mason County. Funded by Pennies from Heaven Foundation and administered by the Chamber Alliance of Mason County, the competition was open to any small Mason County business or nonprofit organization.
The competition idea was spearheaded by Pennies from Heaven Foundation founder John Wilson, who was searching for a way to foster and grow the existing entrepreneurial spirit of Mason County, where he made his business mark.
Over the years, the Momentum board has awarded prizes to Side Step Farms, Inspired Parties, Sister Bees, All Occasions Events & Floral, KandyLand Dairy, and Starving Artist Brewery.
