The 79th District Court in Mason County seeks a Court Clerk.

PAY RATE: Clerical (See https://www.masoncounty.net/county-board/salaries-and-wage-schedule.html)

*Pursuant to section 109 of the Mason County Employee Handbook, individuals with similar job experience may qualify for an advanced start rate.

*Individuals who record as a Certified Electronic Operator (CEO), may obtain additional compensation as may be agreed upon by the Court and the County.

Position Summary:

Performs a wide-range of clerical duties, according to policies and procedures and as may be instructed by the court administrator or Judge.  These duties include but are not limited to:

  • Interfacing with other staff, judges, attorneys, or the public via email, telephone, fax, other media, or in person;
  • Processing and preparing electronic and paper filings, orders, notices, and other materials for all district court file types, pursuant to policies and procedures;
  • Scheduling and reviewing files for all district court file types;
  • Data entry into JIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other programs as necessary;
  • Collection of fines, costs, and bonds;
  • May serve as court clerk in the courtroom;
  • May perform CEO duties as necessary;

Qualifications for Employment

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent;
  • No criminal record;
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to maintain harmonious relationships with co-workers and other individuals utilizing the courthouse
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and the ability to learn other basic computer programs
  • Must be capable of getting to and from the Courthouse, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with a one-hour, unpaid lunch break)

Examination Procedure

  • Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications and applicants best qualified will be interviewed at the discretion of the Court
  • The individual selected must pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
