Ginni Lee Petersen, 77, of Ludington, died on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at her home, with her husband Patrick at her side. She was born on August 20, 1947 in Hillsdale, the daughter of the late Patrick E. and Betty D. (Drayton) Gibson. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School in Jonesville with the class of 1965. While in high school she was a member of the band, playing the French-horn. As a youngster and in her high school years, Ginni owned and cared for her horse, named “Lady”. She was a resident of Manistee, and was employed with Ludington Plastics.
Ginni married Patrick Petersen at Sacred Herat Catholic Church in Victory Township on September 21, 1985. After their wedding they moved to Muskegon, where Ginni attended Muskegon Community College and received her associate degree in art. While living in Muskegon, she was employed with Airline Paint and Glass Company, for several years. They returned to Ludington, where they have made their home since.
She loved cats, and her present cat, “Grey” was at her side when she passed. She knew all the names of her past kittens that preceded her; Frigi, Choochie, Princess, Bandido, Itty Bitty, Snowflake, and Stormy. Ginni also enjoyed walking, hiking, animals, birds (especially Crows), her butterfly garden with milkweeds, where she was intent on saving the monarch butterflies. She enjoyed taking rides with Pat, to the beaches, in the country watching the wild life, and looking at farms.
Ginni is survived by her husband, Pat Petersen of Ludington; her daughter and spouse, Julie Garber (Mark) of Lehigh Acres, Florida; six grandchildren; and her sister and brother in-law, Dianne and Sam Ewing of Adrian. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Allen James Garber II; and her sister Barbara Sue Gibson.
According to Ginni’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
