Conservation District to host webinars

SCOTTVILLE — The Mason-Lake Conservation District will hold a Winter Wednesdays Webinar series beginning Dec. 18. Topics related to carbon markets, agroforestry and regenerative agriculture will be discussed. Webinars will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at noon.

Participants have the option to view online at a location of their choosing or at the Mason County District Library Scottville branch, 204 E. State St.

The December 18 topic will be “Carbon and Ecosystem Services Programs: Considerations for Farmers. The presentation will be provided by Tess Van Gordor, conservation and regulatory specialist with Michigan Farm Bureau. As carbon markets are trying to take shape around the U.S. and there are still no oversight regulations or structures, Van Gordor will cover some things to be aware of if looking to enroll your farm, questions to ask and aspects to compare between companies and programs.
