Mason County Historical Society’s downtown headquarters
LUDINGTON — The Mason County Historical Society will hold it its 87th annual meeting on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024 at the Mason County Historical Society’s downtown Ludington center, 130 E. Ludington Ave. beginning at 6 p.m.
The meeting will include a special announcement of recent decisions made by the Board of Directors. It will also include guest speaker Thom Hawley, former executive director of the Society, along with James Jensen, president of the Society. Special awards will also be presented.
The Mason County Historical Society is a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in 1937. While at one time the Society was supported by a local tax millage, it has operated autonomously, without taxpayer support, for over 30 years. Its mission is to preserve and present Mason County’s rich history, inspiring visitors to appreciate and engage with their heritage. The Society owns and operates Historic White Pine Village in Pere Marquette Township, the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum in Ludington and the Mason County Historical Society building in downtown Ludington.
Cost to attend the Dec. 5 meeting is $10, which includes dinner. This year’s meal cost is being offset through a member’s donation. Members who wish to attend need to RSVP by Nov. 27 to michelle@mchshistory.org.
