SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP — An 87-year-old Hudsonville man died Friday evening following a single vehicle crash on Fountain Road east of Larson Road near Ford Lake.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 8:21 p.m. after Mason-Oceana 911 received an On Star notification of a crash in that location. According to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole, upon arrival first responders discovered a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck that had crashed into a tree. The lone occupant was trapped in the vehicle and was deceased.
Cole said preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was eastbound on Fountain Road and the driver apparently failed to negotiate a curve east of Larson Road. The vehicle left the road, traveled through a ditch and struck a tree.
Emergency crews responding to the incident included Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Fountain Area Fire Department and Life EMS ambulance. Custer Fire Department was also dispatched but disregarded en-route. Fountain Area Fire Department Auxiliary also assisted.
