Larry Delos Martz, 75, of Ludington, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Larry was born on August 9, 1949, the son of the late Delos and Loretta (Terryn) Martz. He was a graduate of Mason County Eastern schools in 1967. He attended college in Ft. Pierce, Florida, earning his associate degree in business. In 1968 he enlisted into the United States Navy, where he was stationed on the USS Saratoga during the Vietnam War. During his time on active duty, he married Bonnie (Jacobson) Martz on November 8, 1969. In 1972, he was honorably discharged. Once discharged he worked as an HVAC repairman. He was also a manager at Holiday Inn Oceanside, in Jensen Beach, Florida, as well as the owner/operator of Heritage Hills Mobile Home Park in Ludington. He was a proud supporter of the Boy Scouts and was a leader for many years.
Larry was mechanically inclined and had a passion to fix things. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved fishing and hunting. He was an avid member of Hunt Club. He loved cooking for people and had a knack for canning and making sausage.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Martz; daughter, Kimberly Janicki; son, Bradley (Jennifer) Martz; grandchildren, Kelsey and Kayla Martz, Joseph and Sophia Janicki; brothers, David (Cindy) Martz, Dennis Martz; sisters in law, Ginny Martz, and Margaret Medsker; brothers in law, Robert (Linda) Jacobson, Buzz (Debbie) Jacobson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his many Hunt Club “brothers”.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Delos and Loretta Martz; brother, Steve Martz; in laws, Robert and Therese Jacobson; brothers in law, David and Richard Jacobson, and Larry Medsker.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 7 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home of Ludington, with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
