LUDINGTON — Voters in Mason County voted overwhelmingly to put Republican Donald J. Trump back into the White House Tuesday. Trump won Mason County by 10,830 votes (64 percent) versus 6,969 votes for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. In Mason County, 6,754 voters voted straight party ticket for the Republican candidates on the ballot and 3,542 voted straight party ticket for the Democratic candidates on the ballot. Trump defeated Harris in both the Electoral College and national popular votes.
Michigan senate candidate Republican Mike Rogers also won in Mason County with 10,613 votes versus his closest opponent, Democrat Elissa Slotkin, at 6,735 votes.
John R. Moolenaar, Republican incumbent, won re-election to Michigan’s second congressional district seat in the House of Representatives. In Mason County, Moolenaar had 10,842 votes compared to his closest opponent, Democrat Michael Lynch, at 6,273.
Mason County voters in Michigan’s 101st House of Representatives district (Meade, Sheridan, Branch and Logan townships, helped to re-elect Republican Joseph D. Fox, 1,175 votes versus 573 for Democrat Christopher R. Crain. Fox won the district by 27,063 (69.4%) vs. 11,933 (30.6%).
Republican Curt VanderWall of Ludington won nearly 2 to 1 in Mason County against Democratic opponent Kathy Pelleran-Mahoney for the Michigan 102nd House of Representatives seat: 10,745 to 5,306. VanderWall won re-election by 29,774 (62.9%) vs. 17,571 (37.1%).
Other presidential results in Mason County included Chase Oliver, Libertarian, 74; Randall Terry, U.S. Taxpayers, 18; Jill Stein, Green, 45; Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., no party affiliation, 94; Joseph Kishore, NPA, 10; Cornel West, NPA, 12. There were a total of 35 write-ins.
