Retail fraud investigations top police activity

PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A warrant is being requested for a 23-year-old Ludington woman following an investigation into a reported retail fraud at the Ludington area Walmart on US 10 Saturday, Nov. 2, shortly before 10 p.m., according to Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is also requesting a warrant for a 26-year-old Ludington man following a reported retail fraud at the Fireside Grocery on North Benson Road in Sheridan Township Sunday, Nov. 3, at 6:30 p.m., said Sheriff Cole.

The following is other police activity in Mason County over the weekend:

Friday, Nov. 1, 2024:

  • 3:44 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 east of Federal Forest Rd #6670, Branch Township.
  • 3:38 p.m., (Ludington Police Department), a 22-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a failure to appear warrant issued by Mason County’s 79th District Court following a traffic stop, Sixth Street near Pere Marquette Highway, Pere Marquette Township. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 9:36 p.m., (LPD), a 24-year-old Kalamazoo woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop, Ludington Avenue and Emily Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 11:30 p.m., (LPD), a 44-year-old Grand Haven man was cited for operating without insurance following a traffic stop, Staffon and Diana streets, City of Ludington.

Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024:

  • 1:49 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Fountain Road west of LaSalle Road, Victory Township.
  • 7:53 a.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Millerton Road west of Stephens Road, Sherman Township.
  • 11:29 a.m,. (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Pere Marquette Highway north of Anthony Road, Summit Township.
  • 2:40 p.m., (MCSO), a 19-year-old Manistee woman was arrested on an outstanding domestic violence warrant issued in Mason County, 11000 block of North LaSalle Road, Grant Township. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 7:08 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 south of Johnson Road, Amber Township.
  • 7:26 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, Jebavy Drive north of Bryant Road, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 7:42 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 north of Beyer Road, Sherman Township.
  • 7:50 p.m., (LPD), a 44-year-old Ludington woman was arrested on a warrant issued in Grand Traverse County following a traffic stop, Ludington Avenue and James Street, City of Ludington. She was lodged in the Mason County Jail.
  • 10:23 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 31 freeway north of the Pere Marquette Highway off-ramp, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 11:35 p.m., (MCSO), car/deer crash, no injury, US 10 west of Stiles Road, Amber Township.

Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024:

  • 12:01 a.m., (MCSO), alarm activation, Victory Township.
  • 2:05 a.m., (LPD), a 27-year-old man was cited for driving without a license following a traffic stop, Staffon and Anderson streets, City of Ludington.
  • 12:59 p.m., (MCSO), two-vehicle hit-and-run crash, no injury, Walmart parking lot, Pere Marquette Township.
  • 9:59 p.m., (LPD), a 33-year-old Custer man was cited for operating without insurance following a traffic stop, Madison and First streets, City of Ludington.
