PERE MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP – Lakeshore Food Club will hold its inaugural Turkey Drop on Thursday, November 14 at Safe Harbor Credit Union.
During the event, participants may donate a frozen turkey at Safe Harbor Credit Union, 5511 W. US 10 between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. or they may make a monetary donation. A $20 contribution will help purchase one turkey for those in need. Visit www.LakeshoreFoodClub.org/turkeydrop to donate online.
“We are excited to launch our first Turkey Drop in Mason County and invite the community to come together to support our neighbors during this important time of year,” said O’Nealya Gronstal, executive director of Lakeshore Food Club. “This year’s Turkey Drop offers a simple yet powerful opportunity for the community to stand with Lakeshore Food Club in the fight against food insecurity. By donating a frozen turkey, you’re helping to ensure families in our area enjoy a nourishing holiday meal. We’re planning a fun, high-energy day for all, and families are encouraged to bring the kids to meet Trotter, our turkey mascot, for a memorable photo. Trotter’s name is a tribute to Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids, which has hosted a community-wide Turkey Drop for over 20 years.
“With one in six households in Mason County relying on Lakeshore Food Club for fresh food, and over 40% of local residents facing challenges in providing for their families this year, this event is essential to help families enjoy a special meal during the holidays,” Gronstal said.
