Obituary: Stanley Lee Bogus, 90, formerly of Ludington

Stanley Bogus

Stanley Lee Bogus, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dedicated Army veteran, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital—Hospice Care in Tampa, Florida at the age of 90 years. Stanley was born on August 4, 1934 in Ludington  and has resided in Lansing, Michigan, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Zephyrhills, Florida.

After enlisting in the Army, Stanley proudly served his country until 1957. He then was called back to the Army in October 1961 for the Berlin Crisis and discharged in March 1963.

Following his time in the military, Stanley worked for the C&O carferries in Ludington and then with CSX Railroad in Lansing, Manistee and Grand Rapids where he retired after many years of dedicated service.

Stanley enjoyed fishing with trips to Key West, Florida, Louisiana and many lakes and rivers in Michigan along with beach fishing in Florida when at his condo week in Melbourne, Florida. Stanley had a 90^th Birthday party this past summer where relatives came and wished him a “Happy 90th Birthday” and several relatives he had not seen in many, many years which he cherished the time they took to stop by and see him.

Stanley is survived by his children Joni Sholtey, Stanley (Patti) Bogus, Ronald Bogus, Dennis (Alie) Bogus and Gary Bogus; his grandchildren Bobbi Bogus, Tyler (Britani) Bogus, Jason (Kim) Purdy, Jamie Purdy, Tosha (Matt) Jones, Keeli (John McCaul) Sholtey, Jacob (Deanna Hotchkiss) Sholtey, Elliott Bogus, Alexis Bogus, and Jesse Bogus; his brother Duane (Joyce) Bogus; along with many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Stanley (Mildred) Boguszewski; his brothers Thomas (Patricia) Boguszewski, Richard Bogus, and Leon (Donna) Bogus.

A celebration of life will take place for Stanly at a date and time to be announced later.
