Fred Allen Curtis, 63, of Grand Rapids, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Trinity Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born July 29, 1961, in Fremont, the son of Milburn and Beverly (Clark) Curtis.
Fred graduated from Ludington High School with the Class of 1979 where he played football and wrestled. He then attended Western Michigan University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Fred worked as a salesman his entire career and was currently employed at Univar Solutions.
Fred was an avid University of Michigan fan and had football season tickets for many years. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother, Bruce, and his business associates. He also enjoyed cycling and had participated in numerous rides throughout the years. Fred was always the life of the party where he was known for telling stories, making everyone laugh and having a Budweiser or two.
Fred is survived by: his mother, Beverly Curtis of Ludington; his siblings, Steve (Susan) Curtis of Panama City Beach, Florida, Janice (Joe Lee) LaPlante of Ludington, and Bruce (Laura) Curtis of Plant City, Florida; his nieces and nephews, Sean (Jennifer) Curtis, Andrea (Nate) Renzella, Sonja (Jason) Battice, Stephanie (Nick) Jamieson, Kraig Yeck, Melissa (James) Hearl; and Erin (Luis) Perez; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his fantastic four-legged friend, Augie.
Fred was preceded in death by: his father, Milburn Curtis; and his stepmother, Margaret Curtis.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at a later date.
