Andrew Gradon Wilson, 47, of Traverse City, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Born on December 8, 1976 in Gary, Indiana, with a brief stay in Kenosha, Wisconsin where he attended Frank and Forest Park Elementary School. Andrew’s journey began in a close-knit family that later moved to Scottville, where he spent his formative years.
Affectionately known as Andrew, Drew, or Drew Nasty, he was always the life of the party, known for his playful spirit and penchant for fun. Growing up alongside his cousins, he embraced every opportunity for adventure. Proud of his Native American heritage, Andrew was a proud member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. As a grass dancer, he joyfully stomped down the grass, paving the way for others to celebrate in the circle—a true embodiment of his love for community and togetherness.
Andrew had a passion for the Chicago Bears, and one can imagine him now, tossing a football around with the legendary Walter Payton. In recent years, he dedicated himself to sharing his journey of sobriety, helping others find their own paths to healing. Through this journey, he discovered a deep faith in God, spreading love and positivity to everyone he encountered. An embrace from Andrew was like no other—warm, genuine, and unforgettable.
A gifted cook, Andrew had an extraordinary ability to create delicious meals from simple ingredients, even though he loved cold hot dogs and a good ol’ fashioned bologna sammich. He spent his final years delighting others with his culinary skills at Lucky Jack’s, where he brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Above all else, Andrew’s greatest accomplishment is his children. He loved being a dad and seized every opportunity to boast about them to anyone in earshot. Andrew is survived by his beloved children, Londyn, Gradyn, and Raelyn Wilson; his father, Ricky Salter of Kenosha, Wisconsin; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Patricia (Fish) Wilson, and his cherished grandparents, Geraldine and Robert Rodriguez, who played a pivotal role in his upbringing.
Andrew will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit, kindness, and love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 21 at Wyman Funeral and Cremation Services in Scottville with a graveside prayer ceremony to be held at a later date.
